Consciousness & Awareness

One of the key approaches I use in our sessions is to develop greater consciousness and awareness.

This means becoming more aware of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in the present moment.

You can gain insights into why you feel the way you do. By doing this, you learn to respond to situations in healthier ways. For example, we practice mindfulness exercises to help you stay grounded in the now. We can also explore your emotions through self-inquiry questions like ‘What am I feeling right now?’ and ‘What do I truly want?’ or “Who am I?” (This one question is the most important in Self-inquiry). This process helps you understand yourself better and empowers you to make positive changes in your life.

Understanding Consciousness and Awareness

Let’s talk about consciousness and awareness and how they can be helpful in your journey towards personal growth and healing.

Consciousness is about being aware of your thoughts, feelings, and surroundings. It’s the state of being awake and alert, where you are fully engaged with the now moment. When we talk about increasing your consciousness, we look at ways to help you become more mindful. We aim to make you aware of your internal and external experiences.

Awareness goes hand-in-hand with consciousness. It means paying attention to your thoughts, emotions, physical sensations, and the environment around you without judgment. Awareness is about noticing what’s happening in the now moment.

By developing your consciousness and awareness, you can gain deeper insights into your behaviour patterns, emotional triggers, and thoughts. This self-awareness can help you understand why you feel a certain way or react to situations in a particular manner.

For instance, when you’re mindful of your thoughts and feelings, you notice that certain situations trigger stress or anxiety. With this awareness, we can work together to develop strategies to manage these triggers more effectively.

We can start with simple mindfulness practices, like focusing on your breath or doing a body scan. These exercises can help ground you in the now moment and reduce any automatic, unconscious reactions you have. Over time, this increased awareness can empower you to make more conscious choices and respond to life’s challenges in healthier ways
